How Changing Media Shaped History and Societies

We are in the middle of a new AI revolution that is going to change media forever. This could give a push to the saturating and plateaued social media. It could also make it even more difficult to reach a wider audience due to higher competition. To contemplate and guess what may happen, we must understand how changing media changed societies and civilizations. It does three things – unites a type of people, divides or polarizes a group, democratizes a previous media system, and makes content more local, but reduces wider reach. Creation of Insiders, but also Outsiders   Invention of Languages When early humans invented languages, they became more organized and developed tribes and societies. But this also clearly defined the concept of an ‘insider’ and ‘outsider’. When they came in contact with tribes which didn’t speak their languages, the idea of insider and outsider became clearer. This also led to clashes and cultural feuds.   Invention of Writing Systems When language

Homogenization of Indian Food

India is full of colours, flavours, and contrasts. This is quite evident in the country’s cuisine. But for the past few years, everything has been moving towards homogeneity. Earlier, some kinds of foods were consumed only on a certain occasion. This kept the taste utility intact. Thanks to capitalism, now any food anytime and anywhere.  Then entered some new cuisines to enrich our taste buds. But slowly, even they adopted to Indian taste and became very Indianised. While all this was reaching its saturation, a new wave of food flooded the markets. Experimental fusion of anything and everything possible. By fusion I mean, the same common ingredients being overused everywhere. Once there was butter chicken, pizza, pasta, and shawarma. But now we have butter chicken, butter chicken pizza, butter chicken pasta, and butter chicken shawarma. Butter Chicken Pizza This fusion wasn’t a bad idea initially. But only a few popular flavours slowly started taking over every diverse food. The m

Impact of Artificial Intelligence on Content Creation & Employment

There are many things Artificial Intelligence can do, but there are some things the AI cannot do, like writing this blog. This year has seen the rise of AI, and since then AI service platforms and content created by these platforms have taken over the internet. Initially, it was believed that like previous industrial revolutions, this new invention will affect the basic entry-level jobs with lower skills, but it directly attacked those jobs that require higher levels of skills. As Artificial Intelligence improves, it will get better and will compete with artists, writers, actors, singers, and musicians, along with other jobs like product delivery, sales and even data collection and data interpretation.   But can there be a human civilisation where everything is automated? If everything right from art to programming is going to be done by AI, what kind of jobs would humans do? How will the economic cycle function? This sudden rise of AI is perceived to be a major threat to human re

The World is getting Crazier, and there is a reason for it

While in the background humans are constantly destroying nature and slowly getting destroyed in the process, conflicts are on the rise more than ever. Not international conflicts or regional conflicts but conflicts of ideas that are radically so different that they are polarising societies from the inside. There are some words which people utter nowadays which no one could think of a decade ago. If you can, just time travel a decade behind and tell your younger self how societies and people have changed. I am sure that your younger self would find it as absurd as believing that there is a long pandemic in the 2020s. So, what has changed in these years? Your tolerance levels. A person drinks for the first time and just two pegs make the person tipsy. The third one makes the person a drunk. But slowly, as the body’s tolerance level develops the person is able to drink four pegs and still feel fine. Now, if the person really wants to feel drunk, more alcohol is required. The same thing

My New Channel Blog - Prav Yav Nav

Hello! I have created a new YouTube channel where I express and explain ideas related to history, mythology and popular fiction. Its posts are somewhat similar to my blog here. I have also created a new blog for that channel where I post same content but in blog format. I am sharing links of that channel. So, follow and subscribe them as I am kind of migrating to that channel and blog. I would continue to post my other thoughts here in this blog. Thank you for your support. - Pranav Gogwekar PRAV YAV NAV YouTube:  https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCsZVlrebUPU2COP0NhpzNvw Blogger:  https://pravyavnav.blogspot.com/ Facebook:  https://www.facebook.com/pravyavnav Instagram:  https://www.instagram.com/prav.yav.nav

Speculative Hindu Temple Architecture: Modern style

India has a wonderful variety of Hindu temple architectures. Each style evolved from previous one during a particular era and under a particular cultural influence. But after colonial period, the style stopped evolving further and all later modern temples we see today have borrowed heavily from the styles that existed before. Although there are a few hipster styles today, but still it’s little bland if you compare it with the kind of architectures that existed before. So, how would’ve been Hindu temple architecture of today’s India if we follow its pattern? But first let’s check out all types of Hindu temple architecture styles in India and abroad. You definitely must be aware of the most common styles – the north Indian ‘Nagara’, the south Indian ‘Dravida’, and its blend known as ‘Vessara’. But there are many regional styles which often get unnoticed by the common folk. Let’s check them out. Types of Hindu Temple Architecture Early Nagara Shikhara with Gavaksha Dravida Vimana Vessar
